This project is a collaborative effort from artists Johnny Veres and Timothy Goldkin
If you live in (or have a connection to) Montgomery, your input is needed to help shape a
powerful new public art project called “Together We Take Flight”—a suspended
sculpture by local artist Johnny Veres and Timothy Goldkin, to be installed in the
Kress Building in Downtown Montgomery.
This collaborative artwork is made up of cyanotype-printed fabric “wings,” featuring
photographs that represent moments of community uplift—times when people came
together to support, love, connect, and rise together. Whether it’s a historic march, a family celebration, a neighborhood gathering, or a quiet act of kindness—we want to see the moments that made you feel lifted.
What We’re Looking For:
-
Photographs that show acts of community, care, or togetherness in Montgomery.
-
These can be historic or recent, digital or film—cell phone pics of old photos are welcome!
-
-
A short written description of the image (1–3 sentences):
-
Tell us what’s happening, when and where it took place, and why this moment matters to you.
-
How to Submit:
-
Please email your image and description to: johnny@verescreative.com.
-
Subject line: Together We Take Flight Submission
-
Deadline: October 13th, 2025 (Images may be included in the final sculpture or accompanying interpretive materials.)
-
Why This Matters:
“Together We Take Flight” is more than a sculpture—it’s a visual celebration of Montgomery’s collective strength, love, and history. Your stories and images will help build a work that reflects who we are—together. Let your memories become part of the art. Let your stories help Montgomery take flight.
THANK YOU! -- Johnny & Timothy
