Tiebetabasi J Essiet

Tiebetabasiabasi J. Essiet, age 45, is a native of Fort Valley, Georgia. Deeply rooted in both African and American cultural traditions, his work reflects a vibrant dialogue between heritage, history, and the natural world.



Essiet studied at Alabama State University, where he refined his skills and developed a multidisciplinary approach that includes acrylic painting, mixed media, sculpture, and photography. His creative practice draws heavily on the cultural richness of Georgia, the state where he was raised, and which continues to inspire his exploration of identity, community, and the interconnectedness of nature and spirit.



Over the years, Essiet’s artwork has been shown in exhibitions across the United States and internationally, earning recognition for its bold storytelling and unique blending of contemporary and ancestral influences.
